WTC Final, Ind vs Aus: Cameron Green Takes a Stunner to Dismiss Shubman Gill on Day 4, Twitter Calls it ‘Non-Out’

After failing to make a mark in the first innings, Shubman Gill was under massive pressure to perform in the 2nd innings as Team India is looking towards a massive total of 444 to lift WTC Final 2023 title. While the onus was on Indian openers – Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill – to provide solid foundation to their side, duo made a steady start by adding 41 in 7.1 overs.

When Indian openers were playing a fine innings at The Oval, Cameron Green pulled off a stunner to dismiss Shubman Gill in the 8th over of India’s 2nd innings. However, Gill’s catch erupted massive controversy in a high-stake game as many expressed their disappointment with the third-umpire’s decision.

What happened?

It was the final before the Tea-Break, when Gill edged the first delivery against Scott Boland and Green stunned the Indian opener with a dive towards his left to grab the catch. When checked by the third-umpire, it appeared as if the ball touched the ground and but despite repetitive look at that catch, third-umpire gave the decision in Australia’s favour.

Reactions:

While Gill took a hard walk towards India’s dressing room, cricket fans on social media were left divided with that decision. Check out the reaction on Gill’s dismissal.
