WTC Final 2023: No Baggage of Not Winning ICC Trophy, says Rahul Dravid

June 23, 2013, was the date when Team India won their last ICC trophy. MS Dhoni-led side beat England to clinch Champions Trophy, but since then, nothing worked in the favor of Men in Blue.

Men in Blue, will be in Whites when they will make yet another attempt to end their title drought as they are gearing up to challenge Australia in World Test Championship Final 2023, at The Oval, starting from June 7.

While fans are eagerly waiting to see their side lifting ICC trophy, head coach Rahul Dravid has revealed that Team India is not carrying a baggage of having not won a title since 2013.

“No, not at all. I mean, we don’t feel any pressure in terms of trying to win an ICC trophy. Of course, it would be nice to do it. It’s certainly nice to be able to win an ICC tournament. But also in the context of things, you look at this and you see this is the culmination of two years of hard work, it’s a culmination of a lot of success that gets you here,” Dravid said, while speaking to media ahead of the World Test Championship final.

India’s head coach further underlined that Team India has played some really impressive competitive cricket in recent past, specifically mentioning ‘winning series in Australia.’

“Those are things that will never change just because you have or you don’t have an ICC trophy. That’s really a bigger picture. But, of course, it’s nice to be able to lift any game of cricket you want to win. This happens to be like a World Test Championship final and it would be nice to get them on the right side of the result,” he added.
