Who Was Baba Siddique, The Ex-Maharashtra Minister Shot Dead In Mumbai?
Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra Minister and a prominent leader of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot dead on Saturday evening in Mumbai.
The shooting occurred outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra East, with two to three rounds fired, according to reports from PTI.
Political Career and Contributions
Baba Siddique, also known as the “Bandra Boy,” had a distinguished political career, serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for three consecutive terms in 1999, 2004, and 2009. During his tenure, he held key positions as the Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies, Labour, and the FDA in Maharashtra.
Earlier this year, in February 2024, Siddique left the Indian National Congress (INC) and joined the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP, marking a significant shift in his political allegiance.

Apart from his political work, Siddique was well-known for his close friendships with Bollywood stars, including actors Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan. His popularity in Bandra and among Mumbai’s elite earned him a notable presence in both political and social circles.
The fatal shooting has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, with a probe currently underway to apprehend all those involved.
