Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is all set to appear in elite gathering from Hollywood i.e., Golden Globes 2023. Since Russia initiated its military invasion into Ukraine, Mr. Zelensky has garnered lot of sympathy and support from Hollywood celebrities.

Meanwhile, two-time Academy Award winner actor gifted one his Oscar statuettes to the president of war-torn country as a ‘goodwill gesture’ to the president and his countrymen.

The 62-year-old actor, who won the Academy Award for Best actor in 2004 and 2009 for ‘Mystic River’ and ‘Milk’ respectively, presented one of his honors to Mr. Zelensky in the capital city of Kiev.

In a video posted on Zelensky’s Insta account, Penn, who had been one of the celebrity to extend his support to the Ukraine in its fight against Russian invasion, took the Oscar trophy out of a bag and handed over to the president.

“I feel terrible. This is for you. It’s just a symbolic silly thing, but if I know this is here with you then I’ll feel better and stronger for this fight. We you win, bring it back to Malibu. I’ll feel much better knowing a piece of me is here,” Mr. Penn said.

In return, Ukraine’s president honoured Mr. Penn with ‘Order of Merit.’ “It’s not from me, it’s from Ukraine,” Mr. Zelensky told the actor. “There are three places in the world that all the pride of my life will be. The place where my daughter was born, the place where my son was born and this,” said Mr. Penn.

The actor had even promised smelt his Oscar if the Academy didn’t invite Zelensky to appear at the 2022 Oscars. “There is nothing greater than the Academy Awards giving him an opportunity to talk to all of us. This is a man who understand movies and his own very long and successful career in that,” the ‘Mystic River’ actor said.
