WATCH: Rahul Gandhi’s ‘India Has More Unemployement Than Pakistan’ Remark
GWALIOR: During the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made striking claims about India’s unemployment rate, stating that it is double that of Pakistan’s.
He attributed this disparity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies, which, according to Gandhi, have adversely affected small businesses and led to a surge in unemployment across the nation.
Gandhi emphasized that India’s unemployment rate stands at 23 percent, contrasting with Pakistan’s 12 percent. He further remarked that the number of unemployed youths in India surpasses those in neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Bhutan.
Rahul Gandhi stated, “In India, the unemployment rate is twice as high as in Pakistan, standing at 23 percent here compared to 12 percent there.”
According to Gandhi, the current unemployment situation in India is the most severe in the last 40 years, squarely placing the blame on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance.
Citing demonetization and the implementation of GST as pivotal moments, Gandhi accused Modi of crippling small businesses, thereby exacerbating the unemployment crisis.
The Congress leader highlighted these issues during interactions with Agniveers and ex-servicemen in Gwalior, stressing the economic disparity, social inequality, and the plight of farmers and young individuals.
Gandhi underscored the essence of ‘nyay’ (justice) in the yatra’s name, attributing it to the injustices faced by various sections of society and the prevalent atmosphere of “hatred” in the country.
The yatra briefly paused in Gwalior before Gandhi’s attendance at the INDIA bloc’s rally in Patna, Bihar.
