In the backdrop of possible price hike of fruit-cum vegetable tomatoes McDonald’s India – North and East on Friday has decided to drop tomatoes from its menu items due to a ‘temporary seasonal issue in procurement.’ Let’s check top points to know in the matter.

In an official statement, quoted by CNBCTV18, McDonald’s India -North and East confirmed that the food chain is ‘constrained to serve tomatoes’ in its menu items due to ‘seasonal issue.’

As a brand committed to the highest standards of food quality and safety, we use ingredients only after rigorous food quality and safety checks. However, due to seasonal issues and despite our best efforts, we are not able to procure tomatoes that pass our world-class, stringent quality checks,” read McDonald’s official statement.

The fast-food chain further assures its customers that it is looking all possible means to bring back tomato in their menu very soon.

Price Hikes:

Due to monsoon, tomato prices in places like Delhi, Kolkata and Uttar Pradesh have reached Rs. 130-Rs. 155 per kg.
