To Be Honest, It Was Ben’s Call: Jos Buttler

Day after England’s all-rounder and Test captain undo his ODI retirement ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India, white-ball skipper Jos Buttler made interesting admission in that regards.

Buttler has revealed that the decision to come out of the ODI retirement was completely on Ben Stokes and that squad is delighted to have him in the squad.

To be honest, it was Ben’s call. You all know Ben pretty well by now, I don’t think anyone talking to him would persuade him,” Buttler was quoted by Cricbuzz.

Butler also said that Ben makes his own decision and anyone asking him to ‘come back’ would not work with him.

I am sure the lure of playing the World Cup is quite big for someone as competitive and as driven as he is to play in an English shirt. I am delighted he felt up to it and could come back,” Buttler added.

The skipper concluded by saying that it’s fantastic to have Ben Stokes in the squad, and a player of his quality would strengthen the squad in any situation.
