Team India qualfies for WTC 2023 final, set up clash with Australia in June – Here’s how
As New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in a nail-biting thriller at Hagley Oval, in Christchurch, Team India qualifies for the World Test Championship final.
Former New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson smashed a brilliant century in the game to take his side home, and help India to set up a clash with Australia in WCT final, in June.
Meanwhile, India is currently playing the fourth and final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium, against Australia.
The Rohit Sharma-led side won the first two games but lost the third Test, which put them in a tight spot. In order to qualify for the WTC final, India needed New Zealand to beat Sri Lanka, and ignore a defeat in the 4th Test against Australia.
The credit for India’s qualification in the World Test Championships final goes to two modern day greats. While Kane Williamson smashed a brilliant century in the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, Test match, Virat Kohli put India in a commanding position by scoring a ‘daddy hundred’ in the Australia vs India, 4th Test.
