Take It By The Scruff Of The Neck And See What Happens Next: Ravi Shastri on Bazball

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri feels he would love to take on England’s ideology of Bazball. Though, the retired Indian cricketer seems impressed with England’s new approach of playing Test cricket, he thinks it will not work every single time.

“I would have loved to be the opposing coach (to Bazball) and take it by the scruff of the neck and see what happens. It may not work every time and you need to see the conditions too in which you do it,” Shastri told The Week.

He also believes that although Bazball has worked for England on most of the occasions but ‘there will be days it will be poor.’ “Only time will tell. But it’s exciting because it keeps you on the edge of the seat and that’s what you want in Test cricket,” Shastri added.

Speaking of England, Ben Stokes-led side is currently hosting Australia for Ashes 2023 and lagging behind in the four-match bilateral by 1-0. Australia clinched the opener by 2-wickets on Day 5 of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston by chasing 281 in the fourth innings.
