Sumit Antil And Bhagyashree Jadhav Named Flag-Bearers At Paris Paralympics 2024
As the Paris Paralympics 2024 approaches, India has announced Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Sumit Antil and Asian Para Games silver medallist Bhagyashree Jadhav as the flag-bearers for the Opening Ceremony on August 28.
The event will see 84 Indian athletes competing across 12 disciplines.
Sumit Antil, a javelin thrower from Haryana, made history at the Tokyo Paralympics with a world record throw of 68.55 meters in the F64 category.
He continued to dominate the sport by clinching gold at the World Para Championships and surpassing his own record with a 73.29-meter throw at the Asian Para Games.
Bhagyashree Jadhav, competing in the F34 shot put category, earned a silver medal at the Asian Para Games and has also been a medallist at the FAZZA World Cup.
Both athletes will lead India’s contingent, as the nation aims to build on its success from the Tokyo Paralympics, where they secured 19 medals.
The Paris Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8, and India’s athletes are prepared to make their mark on the global stage.
