Silicon Valley Will Soon Be Bengaluru Of West: IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar
BENGALURU: Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, participated in the 26th edition of the Bangalore Tech Summit 2023 on Thursday, highlighting Bengaluru’s transformation from a “retirement paradise” to India’s tech hub.
Chandrasekhar asserted that Bengaluru’s global recognition for its talent surpasses that of any other city, except the Silicon Valley in the United States. He even predicted that in a few years, Silicon Valley would be referred to as the “Bangalore of the West.”
Addressing the competition among Indian cities, Chandrasekhar, a Bengaluru resident, stated that there is no competition because Bengaluru is significantly ahead.
He emphasized Bengaluru’s rapid expansion and diversification of capabilities beyond IT, hosting the engineering and R&D centers of major semiconductor brands.
While acknowledging the legendary competition between Hyderabad and Bengaluru, Chandrasekhar highlighted Bengaluru’s unparalleled recognition globally. He credited successive governments for building talent in the city.
Despite occasionally feeling conflicted as a Bengalurean when inviting new brands to set up offices due to traffic concerns, Chandrasekhar expressed immense pride in Bengaluru’s accomplishments and the city’s welcoming nature towards companies.
He concluded by foreseeing that in the coming decade, Silicon Valley would be dubbed the “Bangalore of the West.”
