Shreyas Iyer’s Fiery Response To Short Ball ‘Issue’ Goes Viral – WATCH

MUMBAI: Heading into the India vs Sri Lanka match, questions loomed over Shreyas Iyer’s ability to handle short-pitched deliveries. Since his return from a shoulder injury, he has often fallen victim to bouncers from opposing bowlers.

The short ball dilemma has become a talking point wherever Shreyas plays. Even after his impressive 82-run performance against the Sri Lankans in Mumbai, a journalist didn’t hesitate to inquire about his struggles with the rising deliveries. In response, the 28-year-old cricketer confronted the question boldly and delivered a sharp retort.

Taking the question head-on, Shreyas stated, “What short ball problem? I don’t have any issues. It’s you guys who have created a ‘hype’ suggesting I struggle against the short ball. I’ve executed numerous pull shots for boundaries, but occasionally, things don’t go as planned. Nevertheless, I’m confident in my ability to handle the challenge of short-pitched deliveries.” Iyer expressed this during the post-match presentation.

After a series of low scores, Shreyas made a triumphant return to his aggressive batting style. Playing at his home ground, the 28-year-old balanced prudence with aggression, contributing significantly to India’s total of over 300. Captain Rohit Sharma, too, was full of admiration for Shreyas’s fluid batting and heaped praise on him.
