India’s middle-order batter Shreya Iyer is ecstatic with his performance in the year 2022, and feels he applied himself well. With sheer consistency and maturity, Shreyas Iyer finished the years 2022 as India’s leading run-scorer in international cricket.

He amassed 1,609 international runs at an average of 42.75. He scored one century and 14 half-centuries, with unbeaten 113 being his highest. Iyer’s consistency in 2022 has started giving a headache to Rohit Sharma, who has admitted to have a tough task to choose between Shreyas and Suryakumar Yadav in ODI format.

However, as Shreyas Iyer made the cut in 1st one-day international against Sri Lanka, on January 10 (Tuesday), the batter revealed the secret behind his success, last year.

“It was an exciting year for me and I was ecstatic with my performance. I definitely look back at what I learned from last year. I was less flamboyant with my shot selection, I was patient, that what stands out,” Iyer said.

The 28-year-old also revealed that he used to plan his innings, study the bowlers and try to visualise the situation.
