Rohit Sharma Breaks Into Top 5 In ICC Men’s Test Rankings; Kohli, Jaiswal Also Climb
India’s captain Rohit Sharma has returned to the top 5 of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings for the first time since September 2021.
The updated rankings, released on Wednesday, placed Rohit as the highest-ranked Indian batter at No. 5, while teammates Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal also made gains, securing the 6th and 7th spots, respectively.
The trio will aim to further improve their rankings in the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19.
Sharma and Jaiswal’s recent performances were pivotal in India’s victory over England, with Jaiswal amassing 712 runs, including two centuries and three fifties, and Rohit contributing 400 runs, hitting two centuries. This run of form helped both players rise in the global rankings.
Elsewhere, Sri Lankan batters made significant strides after a stunning series victory over England, while Joe Root maintained his position as the world’s No. 1 Test batter despite a slight dip in points.
