Rohit’s Cricketing Persona Aligns Well With Test And ODI Format: Childhood Coach Dinesh Lad
By Aakash Srivastava: With recent reports indicating that Rohit Sharma is unlikely to feature in T20 Internationals going forward, his childhood coach, Dinesh Lad, expressed his support for this decision, categorizing the T20 format as primarily for entertainment, highlighting Test and ODI formats as better suited to Rohit’s cricketing persona.
According to PTI reports, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, is expected to step back from T20Is, with Hardik Pandya often leading the team in this format since India’s T20 World Cup semi-final exit in November 2022.
Speaking on the matter, Coach Lad emphasized Rohit’s current prime form, commendable leadership, and match-winning performances in Tests and ODIs. He suggested that the T20 format is more about entertainment and urged youngsters to hone their skills in the shortest format.
“Currently, Rohit Sharma is at the peak of his form, displaying excellent batting prowess, flawless leadership, and establishing himself as a game-changer. His cricketing persona aligns well with the Test and ODI formats, whereas T20 is primarily for entertainment. It’s a platform where young players can sharpen their skills.” – Mumbai-based coach told The Quotes.
Furthermore, Lad stressed the importance of Rohit Sharma focusing on quality cricket and expressed confidence that he will lead the side to triumph in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025.
