Rajkummar Rao-Starrer ‘Stree 2’ Dominates Advance Bookings Ahead Of Release
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s highly anticipated film Stree 2 is off to a strong start in advance bookings, leading the box office race despite competition from Bollywood releases Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa.
Within just 48 hours of opening advance bookings, Stree 2 has sold over 100,000 tickets, with two days still remaining before its August 14 release, coinciding with Independence Day.
According to Sacnilk, Stree 2 has secured 124,402 tickets for its opening day, generating Rs 4.09 crore in advance bookings. The film’s advance booking officially began on Saturday, with night shows scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m., as announced by Maddock Films.
In contrast, advance bookings for Khel Khel Mein have been sluggish, with only 2,042 tickets sold so far, resulting in Rs 8.74 lakh in advance revenue.
This poses a challenge for lead actor Akshay Kumar, who has faced recent box office disappointments, including his previous film, Sarfira. John Abraham’s Vedaa has fared slightly better, with 5,969 tickets sold and Rs 18.07 lakh generated in advance bookings for its opening day.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised Stree 2’s strong performance, noting, “ADVANCE BOOKING UPDATE: ‘STREE 2’ TICKET SALES ARE ON 🔥🔥🔥… The film industry can finally breathe a sigh of relief… #Stree2 is poised for a sensational start at the #BO… The pre-sales – which are growing rapidly by the hour – indicate a #Blockbuster start for this horror-comedy.”
Adarsh also highlighted the slower advance booking trends for Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, expressing hope for improvement before their theatrical releases.
Bollywood Hungama reports that Stree 2 is on track to surpass the total advance bookings of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter by Monday night. It is also expected to exceed Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and surpass advance sales of Brahmastra and Tiger 3, which collectively sold over 300,000 tickets, by Wednesday night.
With these promising advance booking trends, Stree 2 appears poised for a successful box office run. The original Stree was a major hit, earning Rs 180 crore against a budget of Rs 25 crore, and set the stage for Maddock Films’ Supernatural Universe with subsequent hits like Bhediya and Munjya.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, who also directed Bhediya and the original Stree, Stree 2 is highly anticipated for continuing this successful franchise.
