Rahul Gandhi Files Nomination From Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat – WATCH
On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi formally entered the electoral arena by submitting his nomination papers for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. Accompanied by his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi presented his candidacy to the Wayanad District Collector, who also serves as the Returning Officer.
Following the submission of his nomination papers, Rahul Gandhi solemnly recited the oath to uphold the Constitution, marking the culmination of the submission process. Watch the video here.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi arrived in Wayanad via helicopter and led a spirited roadshow from Kalpetta to Civil Station before proceeding to the District Collector’s office for his nomination filing.
In the upcoming election, Rahul Gandhi will be contesting against formidable opponents, including BJP state president K Surendran and CPI Leader Annie Raja, for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi clinched victory from this constituency in 2019 with a remarkable margin of over four lakh votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi secured a resounding victory by garnering 7,06,367 votes out of a total of 10,92,197, while his closest rival, CPI’s PP Suneer, received a mere 2,74,597 votes.
