It’s Appaling: Priyanka Chopra Shocked With ‘No Value’ Remark on Jaahnavi Kandula’s death

United States: The death of 23-year-old Indian student in Seattle by a speeding car has triggered massive outrage across the country. The reason is bodycam footage, that surfaced months after 23-year-old Indian student Jaahnavi Kandula was killed, showed a police officer mocking her death.

Amid widespread uproar, Priyanka Chopra has now reacted to Jaahnavi Kandula’s death. Taking to Instagram stories, Chopra wrote;

‘It’s appalling to learn that such a traffic incident that happened 9 months ago is only coming to light now. A life is a life. One cannot put any value on it.”

What was the conversation?

In the video, officer Daniel Auderer laughed about the deadly crash and dismissed the implication of Dave being at fault in the entire scenario.

“Yeahh, just write a cheque. USD 11,000. She was 26 anyway, she had limited value,” Auderer was heard saying.

Who is Jaahnavi Kandula?

Native of Andhra Pradesh, Jaahnavi Kandula was pursuing a master’s degree from the Northeastern University campus In South Lake Union and was set to graduate in December this year.

She was walking near Dexter Avenue North and Thomas Street when the police vehicle hit her. The incident happened earlier this year.

An investigation is underway after a body-worn camera recorded a  conversation between two leaders of the Seattle Police Department union.
