Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for Poland on Wednesday, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years.
During his visit, Modi will hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties as India and Poland celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations.
In his statement, Modi emphasized Poland’s importance as a key economic partner in Central Europe and reaffirmed the shared commitment to democracy and pluralism. He expressed his anticipation for discussions with the Polish leadership and his engagement with the Indian community in Poland.
Following his Poland visit, PM Modi will travel to Ukraine on August 23 aboard the luxury ‘Train Force One,’ a special train used by global leaders, including US President Joe Biden.
In Ukraine, he will meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking his first visit to the war-torn country since Russia’s invasion in 2022.
Modi described Ukraine as a “friend” and “partner,” expressing hope for peace and stability in the region. He sees this visit as an opportunity to build on previous talks with Zelenskyy, focusing on peaceful resolution and enhanced bilateral cooperation.
