PCB Implements $500 Fine For Players Caught Napping During Matches
ISLAMABAD: In a notable development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly introduced a substantial $500 fine for cricketers caught ‘sleeping’ inside the dressing room during match hours.
What we’ve learned…
According to reports, the PCB is placing significant emphasis on team discipline. Players will now be under constant scrutiny during match hours, and taking a nap in the dressing room when not actively participating in a match will be strictly prohibited.
“The players have been duly cautioned and made aware of this development, following the directives of Team Director Mohammad Hafeez,” stated the insider.
Previous rule and recent changes
Under the previous management, Pakistani players faced no penalties for napping in the dressing room during match hours. However, the new leadership has explicitly conveyed that this leniency is no longer acceptable. Violating the code of conduct will result in a substantial $500 fine.
Following their failure to advance to the knockouts of the ODI World Cup 2023 last month, extensive changes were implemented in both the PCB management and the team’s support staff.
Mohammad Hafeez assumed the role of Team Director from Mickey Arthur, with Adam Hollioake taking over as the batting coach from Andrew Puttick. After the World Cup debacle, Morne Morkel, the previous bowling coach, has been replaced, and Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been appointed as the fast-bowling coach and spin-bowling coach, respectively.
PAK VS AUS, Test Series
Currently engaged in a three-match Test series in Australia, Pakistan suffered a 360-run defeat in the first Test in Perth.
At the conclusion of Day 3 in the ongoing second Test in Melbourne, Australia holds a second-innings lead of 241 with four wickets remaining. Pakistan last secured a Test victory on Australian soil in 1995 and is still striving to clinch a Test series Down Under.
