PCB Breaks Silence On Dropping Babar Azam From Pakistan’s squad
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a bold decision to drop former captain Babar Azam from the ongoing PAK vs ENG Test series.
This move comes in response to Azam’s recent lackluster performances, which have raised concerns about his form and fitness. The PCB cited the need to rest key players and prepare for future international assignments in the 2024-25 season.
Why Babar Azam Was Dropped from Pakistan Squad?
In an official statement, the PCB explained: “After evaluating the current form and fitness of crucial players, and considering Pakistan’s upcoming international fixtures, the selection committee has decided to rest Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Abrar Ahmed was unavailable for selection due to dengue fever.”
The PCB has brought in fresh faces to replace the rested players, including uncapped players Haseebullah, Mehran Mumtaz, and Kamran Ghulam. Veteran off-spinner Sajid Khan and fast bowler Mohammad Ali have also been included. Noman Ali and Zahid Mehmood, who were initially released from the squad, have been recalled.
