NSA Ajit Doval To Visit Moscow For Key Peace Talks On Russia-Ukraine War, Attend BRICS-NSA Meet
India’s National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, is set to visit Moscow from September 10-11 for critical discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on efforts to resolve the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, according to sources.
The trip comes as part of India’s active engagement in peace diplomacy amidst the global conflict.
Doval will participate in the BRICS-NSA meeting during his visit, which includes top security officials from the BRICS group—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—along with several newly inducted members like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
The meeting, a follow-up to the July BRICS summit in Moscow, aims to foster cooperation on global security challenges.
In addition to his engagement in the BRICS summit, Doval is expected to hold bilateral talks with his Russian and Chinese counterparts.
The discussions will likely revisit the key takeaways from the July summit, offering an opportunity to further develop strategies for peace and stability in the region.
This visit follows a significant moment in India’s international diplomacy, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered to mediate peace talks during his recent historic trip to Ukraine.
Modi’s conversations with both President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized India’s stance on promoting “dialogue and diplomacy” as the path to ending the conflict.
While Modi’s warm interactions with Putin drew sharp criticism from the West and Ukraine, India has maintained that its efforts are firmly rooted in the pursuit of peace.
Doval’s Moscow visit could mark a crucial chapter in global peace efforts as India continues to play an active role in facilitating dialogue between the warring nations.
