Neeraj Chopra’s Paris Olympics 2024 Javelin Throw: When And Where To Watch The Tokyo Gold Medallist Event in India
Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra will carry the hopes of millions as he steps onto the field at the Paris Olympics 2024 next week. The Tokyo Olympics gold medallist is set to pursue a historic achievement—becoming the first Indian athlete to win two individual gold medals at the Olympics.
Chopra, who has been a dominant force in the men’s javelin event, will face fierce competition from athletes such as Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, and Germany’s Julian Weber. Neeraj leads the 29-member Indian athletics contingent, which began its competition at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.
Securing gold on August 8 would not only mark a significant personal milestone for Chopra but also make him only the fifth man in Olympic history to defend his title in the javelin throw.
The other athletes to have achieved this feat are Eric Lemming (Sweden, 1908 and 1912), Jonni Myyra (Finland, 1920 and 1924), Jan Zelezny (Czech Republic, 1992, 1996, and 2000), and Andreas Thorkildsen (Norway, 2004 and 2008).
Chopra’s key rivals include Czech thrower Jakub Vadlejch, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and defeated Chopra in the Doha Diamond League, as well as Julian Weber and former world champion Anderson Peters.
The qualification round for the men’s javelin throw is scheduled as follows:
- Qualification – Group A: August 6, 1:50 PM IST
- Qualification – Group B: August 6, 3:20 PM IST
- Final: August 8, 11:55 PM IST
Where to Watch Live:
