Lok Sabha Elections 2024: No Alliance, Rahul And Priyanka-Led Padyatra – UP Congress Leaders
LUCKNOW: In Uttar Pradesh, Congress leaders are calling for the party to avoid any alliances in the state ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections 2024. They believe the party should concentrate on highlighting the people’s plight through padyatras led by either Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Congress state unit president Ajay Rai has stated that the question of alliances will be discussed by the national leadership; however, the party plans a padyatra soon to raise public issues.
The leaders also called for greater involvement of the Gandhi family in the campaign. The Congress has recently launched campaigns focusing on OBCs, Dalits, and minorities and has extended its Dalit Gaurav Yatra. The party has also raised the demand for a caste-based census.
The Congress party is committed to fighting for the rights of the people of Uttar Pradesh,” said Ajay Rai, President of the Congress state unit.
“We are planning a padyatra to raise public issues, such as unemployment and deteriorating law and order. We will take up these issues aggressively, even if it means facing imprisonment. The Congress party has a long history of fighting for the people’s rights, and we will continue to do so.” Rai told The Indian Express.
Rai added that the party’s new committee would reflect a balance of old and new, veterans and youths, with due consideration given to OBCs, Dalits, and minorities.

Rai also claimed that the ruling BJP in the state is currently facing infighting, and that one of the deputy chief ministers is neither attending government events nor Cabinet meetings.
Along with highlighting the government’s failure in establishing law and order, curbing unemployment, etc., the discord in the ruling party ranks should also be highlighted in Congress campaigns.
