Kya yaha bhi Bulldozer chalne laga? Patna HC judge schooled Bihar police for demolishing a woman’s house at instance of land-mafia

The Patna High Court has lashed out at state police for reportedly demolishing a woman’s house allegedly at an instance of a land mafia and schooled the Bihar government for making a ‘mockery’ of the law.

Kya yaha bhi Bulldozer chalne laga? Whom do you represent, the state or some private person? Tamasha band Diya ki kisi ka bhi ghar bulldozer se tod denge (Have they started using a bulldozer even here? Who are you representing, the state or a private person? You have made a mockery by demolishing anyone’s house using a bulldozer),” Justice Sandeep Kumar was heard saying in a viral video.

Notably, the case in regards to a complaint filed by a woman whereby she alleged that police had lodged a false case against her and her family members.

However, taking note of the matter, Justice Kumar assured the petitioner that she would be paid at least Rs. 5 Lakh compensation from the personal pockets of the accused.

“5-5 Lakh rupye dilwayenge hum, ghar tudawane ka..personal pocket se (I will ensure that you get Rs. 5 lakh each for demolishing her house, from their personal pockets,” Justice Kumar added. A bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar also said that all the officers are in some way aligned with the geo-mafia.

However, the court stayed the FIR and directed the police not to arrest the petitioner or anyone from her family. The court has also instructed the Superintendent of Police, Patna East, Circle Officer, Patna City and Officer-in-Charge, Agankuan Police Station, Patna, to appear in person on 8 December 2022.
