IPL Mega Auction Likely In Saudi Arabia On November 24-25; BCCI To Announce Dates Soon
The highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is expected to take place on November 24 and 25 in Saudi Arabia.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to confirm the dates officially. The BCCI is currently exploring various options and is expected to finalize and announce the schedule soon.
Scheduling Conflict with India’s Test Match in Australia
A significant challenge for the BCCI is the potential clash with India’s first Test match against Australia, set to be held in Perth from November 22 to 26.
The match will be broadcasted on Disney Star, which is also an official IPL broadcaster. To avoid any scheduling overlap, the auction is likely to begin in the afternoon, Indian Standard Time, reducing the chances of a direct conflict due to the time difference with Australia.
Saudi Arabia as the Preferred Venue
Sources reveal that BCCI officials have already visited Saudi Arabia to evaluate potential venues, with Riyadh and Jeddah being the top contenders. Riyadh, the capital city, is currently the most likely choice to host the two-day auction.
While other cities like Dubai, Singapore, and London were considered, and even Vienna was briefly discussed, Saudi Arabia seems to be the frontrunner. The BCCI has reportedly identified a suitable venue for the auction in Riyadh.
Franchises Seek Clarity on Auction Venue
Although IPL franchises would prefer the auction to be held in India, the decision to move it abroad has left teams urging the BCCI to announce the final venue soon.

This will allow them to make necessary travel arrangements for their delegation members. Before the auction, franchises are also required to submit their player retention lists by 5 PM on October 31.
