India Officially Bids To Host 2036 Olympics, PM Modi’s Vision Gains Momentum
New Delhi – India has officially entered the race to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) submitting a Letter of Intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 1.
The move marks a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of bringing the Olympics to Indian soil.
With Los Angeles and Brisbane set to host the Games in 2028 and 2032, interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics has attracted global attention. Over ten cities are reportedly interested, as confirmed by IOC President Thomas Bach, setting up a competitive selection process.
PM Modi has repeatedly expressed his ambition for India to host the Olympics, seeing it as a transformative opportunity for sports in India.
During this year’s Independence Day celebrations, he spoke with Indian athletes who competed in the Paris Olympics, seeking their input on how India can prepare for a potential 2036 Games. He emphasized that their insights would help India plan carefully and avoid missed details in preparation.
The IOC’s 141st session in Mumbai last year also highlighted India’s growing interest, where PM Modi addressed the committee, stating, “We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to host the Olympics in 2036. This is the dream of 140 crore Indians.”
India now joins other nations, including Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, Poland, Egypt, and South Korea, all vying for the 2036 Olympics.
