India Beats China To Become Second Largest Road Network: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday, June 28 claimed that India beats China to become second largest road network in the world- with current network stands at 1,45,240 kms.

Minister said that the road network in India grew by 59% in last nine years. India’s road network has reached 1,45,140 km at present from 91,287 km in 2013-14, he added.

Notably, the Union Minister was addressing the gathering on ‘nine years of achievements of central government’ in New Delhi.

Massive growth in toll revenue:

The revenue from toll rose to Rs. 41,342 crore in FY 2023 from Rs. 4,770 crore in 2013-14.

Use of fastags:

Senior BJP leader also underlined that the use of fastags has reduced the waiting time at till plaza to 47 seconds.
