I Am Sick And Tired: Malaika Arora’s Father’s Final Call Hours Before Death
Mumbai – In a tragic turn of events, Anil Mehta, stepfather of Bollywood actress Malaika Arora, allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday morning.
New details have emerged indicating that Mehta made a final phone call to his daughters, Malaika and Amrita, just hours before his death. According to police sources, Mehta reportedly told them, “I am sick and tired,” raising questions about his state of mind in the moments leading up to his death.
The Mumbai police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his final call and the reasons behind the distressing message.
As part of the probe, Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, who had been living with Mehta despite their earlier divorce, provided a statement. She recalled how her ex-husband would routinely sit in the balcony and read newspapers every morning.
On the morning of the incident, Joyce found Mehta’s slippers in the living room but was unable to locate him in his usual spot. Leaning over the balcony, she spotted their building’s watchman shouting for help.
Mehta was later discovered deceased. Joyce mentioned to authorities that Mehta had no major health issues except for some knee pain, and he had recently taken voluntary retirement from the Merchant Navy.
Malaika Arora has since issued a statement, expressing her family’s grief and asking for privacy. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Anil Mehta’s last rites will be performed today, Thursday, September 12.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic death, focusing on Mehta’s mental health and the content of his final conversation with his daughters.
