The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to transform the western and central parts of the state into a hub of the auto and electric vehicles industry comprising both primary and spare parts manufacturing units.

According to the report published in Times of India (by Shailvee Sharda), the Chief Minister of the state claimed that there is an urgent need to scale and shape up the units of auto and electric vehicle industries of various scales which are operation. “There is a need to shape and scale them up. It would help in creating jobs, too,” CM said.

The report further informed that the state industries and infrastructure department officials had claimed that the government has decided to spend about 20 billion dollars for the cause.

Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Hapur, Kanpur Nagar and Meerut have been opted to set up big enterprises to encourage the auto industry. According to a government official, central UP is the most suitable for essential metal and related industries.

“The MSME sector already exists. We need to give a better shape and smoothen the work process. The land required for the purpose -an estimated 9-10,000 acres land – will be provided by the state government,” a government official said.

Notably, UP’s growth prospects on the count are significantly promising as UP’s Growth State Value Addition was pegged to be 1.5 billion dollars in 2019 which is likely to touch the 5- billion dollars mark in the timeline of the next five years.

The officials cited the construction of the expressways network as the prime reason for business expansion; however, they urged to build Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor to boost development.

The officials further claimed that the state is working towards expanding the network of EV charging besides covering the requirement of allied stages, processes like manufacturing batteries, iron works, painting services etc.

“The automobile parts with electric vehicles established in UP will also feed the markets in the UK, US, Australia and South Asia. The boost to this sector will help to create 1.10 lakh jobs annually,” stated a government official.
