Here’s Why PM Modi Will Take A 20-Hour Train Instead Of Flight For 7-Hour Visit To Ukraine?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently visiting Poland and will soon be heading to Ukraine on August 23.
In a notable move, instead of flying, PM Modi will embark on a 20-hour overnight journey from Poland to Kyiv aboard the luxurious “Train Force One.”
This special train, renowned for its top-tier amenities and advanced security, has become the preferred mode of travel for high-profile leaders to Ukraine due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the closure of Ukrainian airports.
During his seven-hour stay in Kyiv, Modi will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with discussions expected to include significant defense deals.
Modi’s visit comes weeks after a controversial trip to Moscow, raising global interest in his diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Train Force One has hosted other prominent figures like US President Joe Biden and European leaders including Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz, and Mario Draghi during the war.
Initially built for tourists in Crimea, the train features modern interiors resembling a luxury hotel, complete with a meeting space, sleeping arrangements, and enhanced security systems designed to protect VIP passengers under critical circumstances.
