Lionel Messi is set to be absent for seven matches in the upcoming Major League Soccer (MLS) season with Inter Miami FC, scheduled to kick off on February 21 with a match against Red Salt Lake. The reason behind Messi’s absence is attributed to his international commitments during the June FIFA window and the Copa America.

In June next year, as per 2024 MLS schedule, conflicting fixtures are lined up for Inter Miami vs Philadelphia on June 15, Columbus on June 19, Nashville on June 29, Charlotte on July 3, and Cincinnati on July 6.

Lionel Messi’s potential absence during this period could impact Inter Miami’s team’s lineup for these crucial encounters. Unlike various other leagues, MLS adheres to scheduling games during specific FIFA fixture periods, where the mandatory release of players for national team duty is implemented.

Following the Copa America final on July 14, Inter Miami has scheduled home matches in Miami against Toronto on July 17 and Chicago on July 20.
