Heart Attacks: Expert Advocates For Essential CPR Education

By Nimisha Mathur: Gujarat has been witnessing a distressing surge in heart attacks, with some patients as young as 13, underscoring the need for improved medical readiness during festive events.

In a conversation with The Quotes, Dr. Yogesh Gupta, a Senior Consultant Physician, highlighted various factors contributing to medical emergencies like heart attacks, including genetic disorders, environmental pollutants, and unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Moreover, Dr. Gupta emphasized the significant role played by the COVID-19 pandemic in the rise of heart attack cases. Key contributing factors identified by him include

  1. Artery blockages suggested by high D-dimer
  2. Heart muscle inflammation myocarditis suggested by high cpr
  3. Low Oxygen levels
  4. Indiscriminate use of reproposed drugs, and
  5. High dose use of steroids.

Regrettably, the attendees’ ability to handle medical emergencies fell short, leading to challenges in providing prompt first-aid measures. Equally concerning is the increase in heart-related complications among children.

Dr. Gupta advocated for immediate implementation of essential initiatives, including providing first-aid training for event organizers, addressing hesitancy and indifference, and integrating CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) education into the modern education system.

“Incorporating comprehensive CPR education into the modern curriculum and dispelling resistance to autopsies are critical steps in building a more informed and proactive healthcare system. Promoting community engagement through campaigns that impart essential life-saving skills and highlight the significance of maintaining a record of familial health history are integral components in nurturing a culture of proactive healthcare management,” he added.

According to the health expert, raising awareness through family health awareness and history charts can be instrumental in improving individual well-being. He concluded by highlighting the importance of recognizing the need to combat health abuses such as drug use, alcoholism, and tobacco consumption.
