Hamas Claims Responsibility For Deadly Tel Aviv Attack, 7 Killed, 16 Wounded
Hamas has claimed responsibility for a combined stabbing and shooting attack in Tel Aviv that left seven people dead and 16 others injured. The militant group’s armed wing, Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, confirmed their involvement in a statement reported by Reuters.
The attack took place near a light-rail stop in Tel Aviv’s Jaffa neighborhood on Wednesday.
Israeli police stated that two armed men boarded a railcar, opened fire on passengers, and continued to attack pedestrians on Jerusalem Boulevard before being neutralized by local authorities and civilians.
The assailants were identified as Muhammad Masek (19), who was killed at the scene, and Ahmed Himoni (25), who sustained serious injuries. Both suspects, residents of Hebron, were armed with M16 rifles, additional ammunition, and a knife.
This assault occurred just hours before Iran launched a ballistic missile barrage against Israel, intensifying tensions in the region. Over 200 missiles were fired, triggering emergency sirens and sending residents to shelters across the country.
