NEW DELHI: The government declared the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) a banned organization on Wednesday.

Ban Declaration: The government officially declared the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) as a banned organization on Wednesday.
Reasons for Ban: Union Home Minister Amit Shah cited the involvement of MLJK-MA members in anti-national and secessionist activities, including incitement to establish Islamic rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
Propaganda and Objectives: The official notification noted MLJK-MA’s reputation for anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda. The outfit’s objectives included seeking freedom for Jammu and Kashmir from India, merging with Pakistan, and establishing an Islamic State in the region.
Unlawful Activities: The government stated that MLJK-MA members were engaged in raising funds through various sources, including Pakistan, for unlawful activities. This involved supporting terrorist actions and orchestrating sustained stone-pelting on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of Home Affairs emphasized that the outfit’s leaders and members engaged in activities detrimental to the country’s integrity, sovereignty, security, and communal harmony. Acting under the powers of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the government designated the MLJK-MA an “unlawful association.”
Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed the government’s resolute message that those acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of the nation will face the full force of the law under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
