Formula 1: Alpine signs football legend Zinedine Zidane as new ambassador
The Formula One 2023 season is upon us and motorsports giants have started to unveil their best machines for yet another highly-competitive year. Meanwhile, BWT Alpine F1 team, on February 16 revealed their new A523 liveries, including the signing of one of the greatest footballers of all time.
Former Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane, who boasts a illustrious career as a player and a manager, has joined Alpine to promote equal opportunities in sport and automotive industry – French brands in F1 and a sports car manufacturer.
According to Alpine, Zidane will become the brand ambassador and sponsor of Alpine’s equal opportunities programmes: Rac(H)er and the Concours Excellence Mecanique.
“I like the vision and the concrete approach of the Alpine teams, especially in the implementation of their equal opportunities programmes, especially since I have a particular affection for Alpine as a Frenchman and Formula 1 fan,” Zidane said.
“I think it’s important to tell children that, wherever they come from, they can one day become the champions of tomorrow in whatever walk of life they choose and they should always believe in their dreams,” added Zidane.
Meanwhile, Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi hailed the company’s association with the legendary footballer by calling him a ‘great champion.’ “He is a dedicated man who has decided to use his global presence to inspire young people and drive change towards creating equal opportunities,” Rossi said.
