Exclusive || BCCI awaits ‘right time, moment’ to answer ‘Ramiz Raja’s ‘who will watch WC 2023?’ comment

On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja made a shockwave by claiming that no one will watch World Cup 2023 if Pakistan does not travel to India for the ICC event next year.

As quoted in Urdu News, PCB Chief said, “If Pakistan does not participate in next year’s World Cup in India, then who will watch it? We will not travel to India if they do not visit Pakistan for Asia Cup.”

Meanwhile, a BCCI office-bearer (on the request of anonymity) told The Quotes that board members would respond to Ramiz Raja’s comment at the right time.

“Hum logo ne padha kya kaha hain unhone. Sahi waqt ka intezaar kijie. Hum jawab denge (We read what PCB Chief said. We are waiting for the right time. We will respond),” said a highly-placed office bearer.

Notably, Ramiz Raja’s statement came in the backdrop of a comment made by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and president of Asia Cricket Council, stating that Team India will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023; instead claimed that the continental tournament will be shifted to neutral venues.

Shah’s statement triggered massive outrage in the Pakistan cricket fraternity as many retired cricketers hit back at the BCCI secretary over his claims. Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja, Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, claimed they would take an aggressive stand.

“If they do not come, they can play the World Cup without us. We will adopt an aggressive approach. Our team is showing performance. I have always said we need to improve the economy of Pakistan cricket and that it can only happen when we perform well. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, we beat India. We beat them again in T20 Asia Cup. In one year, the Pakistan cricket team defeated a billion-dollar economy team twice,” PCB Chief said.
