ED Summons Delhi Minister Kailash Gehlot In Liquor Policy Case: Report
NEW DELHI: In the aftermath of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest, the Enforcement Directorate has now turned its focus towards Delhi’s Minister and AAP leader, Kailash Gahlot, summoning him for questioning regarding a money-laundering investigation linked to the liquor policy case. This marks Gahlot’s first summons in this regard.
Reportedly, Kailash Gahlot has been instructed to appear before the agency today, according to PTI.
Aged 49, Kailash Gahlot serves as the AAP MLA representing Najafgarh in Delhi, and holds key portfolios as the Minister for Transport, Home, and Law in the Delhi government.
Sources familiar with the matter informed PTI that Gahlot has been summoned to provide his statement and undergo questioning under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ongoing case has already led to the imprisonment of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Arvind Kejriwal on similar charges.
Notably, Kailash Gahlot, alongside Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, stands as one of the few prominent AAP figures who are not currently incarcerated.
Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21, following the Delhi High Court’s refusal to shield him from arrest in relation to the excise policy, occurred after he disregarded nine prior summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate.
