Election Commission To Name Sachin Tendulkar ‘National Icon’ Ahead Of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India is likely to appoint Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar as it’s ‘national icon’ to enhance voter awareness about polls.
The apex poll body will reportedly sign a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indian cricketer in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners – Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel.
“This collaboration would mark a significant step towards leveraging Tendulkar’s unparalleled impact with the youth demographic for increasing voter’s participation in the forthcoming elections, especially in General Elections 2024,” ECI said in an official statement.
With that development, Sachin Tendulkar has joined the list of elites like – Former APJ Abdul Kamal, former Indian captain MS Dhoni, actor Amir Khan and former boxing world champion Mary Kom.
