Don’t Travel To Iran Or Israel: India Issues Advisory Amid Fresh Tension In Middle-East
NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian citizens against traveling to Iran and Israel until further notice due to the “prevailing situation in the region.”
This advisory follows heightened tensions between the two countries after a recent attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Key Points:
- Travel Warning: All Indian citizens are urged to postpone non-essential travel to Iran and Israel.
- Registration for Existing Residents: Indians currently residing in these countries are advised to contact their respective Indian embassies and register themselves.
- Heightened Security: Those residing in Iran and Israel are encouraged to exercise extreme caution and limit unnecessary movements.
Background:
The recent strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria has significantly escalated tensions between Iran and Israel. Fears of retaliation by Iran have prompted the Indian government to issue this travel advisory.
Government-to-Government agreement-:
Despite the travel advisory, the Indian government is expected to continue sending a limited number of workers to Israel under a government-to-government agreement.
Approximately 6,000 Indian workers are anticipated to arrive in Israel between April and May to address labor shortages in the construction sector following the recent Israel-Hamas conflict.
