Breaking: ICC fines entire match fees of Team India for slow over rate in WTC Final, punishes Gill for openly criticising his Day 4 dismissal

A day after losing the World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia at The Oval on June 11, Sunday, Team India dealt with a major blow as the whole squad has been dealt with entire match fees of the marquee clash.

As per the International Cricket Council, Australia has also been docked 80 percent of their match fees. India was ruled to be five overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration, while Australia was found to be four overs short.

In accordance with article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has also faced punishment for publicly criticizing his dismissal on Day of the summit-clash, for ‘breaching article 2.7 which relates to public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match.’ The Indian opener has been fined for 15 percent of his match fee.
