BCCI to plant 90,000 saplings after first two playoff matches in IPL 2023

As Indian Premier League has reached its business end, the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to plant 500 saplings for each dot balls during playoff clashes in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League.

A day after MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings outplayed defending champions Gujarat Titans in Chennai on May 23, Wednesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that BCCI will plant 42,000 saplings as the bowlers in the game bowled 84 dot balls.

Meanwhile,  Mumbai Indians versus Lucknow Super Giants, Eliminator 1 saw 96 dot balls on May 24 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Taking to Twitter, Jay Shah wrote;

“48,000 saplings (96 Dot Balls) planted thanks to the bowlers of @LucknowIPL and @mipaltan in the Eliminator at Chennai. Now, it is over to the bowlers of @gujarat_titans and @mipaltan to raise the number in Qualifier 2 #GTvsMI  #TATAIPLGreenDots ? ? ? @IPL.”

With Chennai already qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans are locking horns at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, eying final berth.
