NEW DELHI: On Friday, Air India Express declared its plans to enhance its operations from the Ayodhya airport, set to be inaugurated on December 30.
The airline is introducing new flights connecting Ayodhya to Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, as well as offering services from these cities to the holy city. Commencing on January 17, these operations aim to bolster connectivity.
Previously, Air India Express disclosed its intent to operate flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya. IndiGo also joined in, announcing its plans to operate flights along these routes.
Both airlines are scheduled to launch their inaugural flights to the newly established Ayodhya airport on December 30.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the international airport in Ayodhya, marking the lead-up to the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir.
The design of the new airport reflects the essence of the Ram Mandir, symbolizing the triumphant return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating the demon king, Ravana.
The estimated cost for the initial construction phase of the airport is around Rs 1,450 crore. The newly constructed terminal building, covering an area of 6,500 square meters, is designed to accommodate 600 passengers during peak hours, with an annual handling capacity of 10 lakh passengers.
