Aamir Khan Hints At Retirement Plans – Details Inside
Superstar Aamir Khan and his former wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, engaged in a meaningful dialogue with Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud following a special screening of their film Laapataa Ladies at the Supreme Court on Friday.
The event, part of a gender sensitisation program, was attended by several judges from the apex court.
During the discussion, Aamir Khan shared that his decision to produce Laapataa Ladies was driven by both “fear and desire.”
Reflecting on his career, he stated, “During COVID, at the age of 56, I realized this might be the last phase of my career. With potentially 15 more years of active work left, I wanted to give back to the industry, society, and country. While I initially thought of doing one film a year, I decided that as a producer, I could support multiple stories I feel passionate about.”
Aamir, known for his support of socially relevant cinema, highlighted his commitment to nurturing new talent. “By producing films, I can provide a platform for new writers, directors, and other creatives.
Laapataa Ladies is just the beginning. I aim to produce four to five films a year to promote such talent and bring more meaningful stories to the audience,” he explained.
Laapataa Ladies explores the story of two newlywed brides who are accidentally swapped during a train journey to their husbands’ homes.
While the film had a decent box office performance, it achieved greater success on Netflix, where it set several viewership records.
