Actor Olivia Munn Opens Up About Breast Cancer Battle. Check Here
Actor Olivia Munn bravely shared her experience with breast cancer, urging women to be proactive about their health. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Munn revealed she underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in both breasts.
“I’m fortunate,” Munn wrote. “Early detection gave me valuable treatment options. I want this for every woman facing a similar situation.”
Despite a negative genetic test result, Munn’s doctor calculated her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score, a step Munn credits with saving her life.
Following imaging tests and a biopsy, she opted for a double mastectomy 30 days later. The past ten months have included four surgeries, but Munn prioritized privacy during the most challenging moments.
Munn expressed gratitude to her family and friends, particularly her partner, comedian John Mulaney, for their unwavering support throughout the surgeries. “He was always there,” she wrote, “and made sure the first thing I saw upon waking was a picture of our son, Malcolm.”
A former correspondent on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” Munn is known for her roles in films like “Magic Mike,” “The Predator,” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
