Lashkar Terrorist Arrested From New Delhi Railway Station, Is Retired Army Personnel
NEW DELHI: On Sunday, February 4, the Delhi Police apprehended Riyaz Ahmed, a retired Army soldier allegedly linked to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), at the New Delhi Railway Station.
This arrest follows recent actions by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who dismantled a LeT cell operating in Kupwara district, thwarting plans for attacks in the area.
Ahmed, identified as a key player in the conspiracy, collaborated with Khursheed Ahmad Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather, liaising with handlers across the Line of Control (LoC) to procure weapons and ammunition.
In a statement, Delhi Police highlighted Ahmed’s active role in scheming with his associates to acquire arms from LeT handlers across the LoC for destabilizing activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
This development stems from the successful dismantling of a terror network based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Earlier, five terrorist associates were detained in Karnah, including Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, caught with an AK series rifle, magazines, rounds, and pistols.
Investigations unveiled Bhat’s communication with LeT handlers in PoK, who facilitated the dispatch of weapon shipments to support their unlawful operations.
