Bihar Political Landscape Shifts: BJP’s Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Sinha to be Deputy Chief Ministers
PATNA: As Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation to Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Sunday, the prospect of two Deputy Chief Ministers emerging from the BJP looms over the state.
Reports suggest that the names of Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha are under consideration for the positions, but an official confirmation is still pending.
Prior to Kumar’s resignation, the BJP affirmed its intention to form a government in collaboration with Kumar’s JD(U) and other allies.
Samrat Chaudhary assumed leadership of the legislative party, while Vijay Sinha was elected as the deputy leader.
Expressing gratitude, Chaudhary stated, “The BJP did a historic thing for my life. Being elected as the leader of the Legislative Party and participating in the government is an emotional moment for me.”
Reflecting on the mandate received in 2020, Chaudhary emphasized the commitment to Bihar’s development and ending the influence of Lalu Yadav. He noted that the BJP supported Nitish Kumar’s proposal to prevent the resurgence of ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bihar.
Days after widespread speculation about Nitish rejoining the BJP-led NDA, he brought an end to the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ rule in the state.
At the Raj Bhavan, Nitish informed Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Sunday, “We have decided to sever ties with the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in the state.”
