IND Vs SA: Shardul Thakur Gets Hit On The Shoulder At Nets
CENTURON: India’s all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, faced a setback on Saturday in Centurion as he took a blow to his shoulder during a net session. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, and scans will be conducted if necessary. Currently, there’s no confirmation regarding the need for scans.
Despite Thakur experiencing considerable discomfort and opting out of bowling during the nets, he continued to bat after the impact.
The upcoming second Test between South Africa and India, crucial for India to level the series, is set to commence on January 3 in Cape Town.
During the nets session, Thakur, the first player to step into the throwdown nets, was struck on the left shoulder while facing deliveries from a member of the team’s support staff.
This incident occurred about 15 minutes into the session. The ball kicked up unexpectedly, leaving Thakur in a tricky situation, and it hit his leading left shoulder, prompting him to express pain.
After completing his batting session, the team physio applied an ice pack sling to Thakur’s shoulder.
The nets session took place on what was supposed to be the final day of the Boxing Day Test in Centurion, which concluded in three days with South Africa securing an innings win.
Thakur had contributed a useful 24 runs in the first innings of the Test and 2 runs in the second before facing a short ball, similar to the one encountered in the nets, resulting in a fending shot to gully. His bowling performance was not the best, registering figures of 19-2-101-1.
