Ravindra Jadeja’s pictures in Indian jersey features in BJP’s political poster: Should cricketers wear Indian jersey for political gain?

Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the two-match Test series against and in Bangladesh over injury concerns. Meanwhile, Jadeja has been actively campaigning for his wife, Rivaba, who is currently contesting for Bhartiya Janta Party in the Gujarat assembly election.

Ever since reports confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja would miss out Bangladesh tour, cricket fans have been pointing out the matter that when an Indian cricketer is fit to actively participate in political campaigns, then how can he be termed unfit for the international tour?

However, Ravindra Jadeja has given birth to yet another controversy on social media after his picture in an Indian jersey was placed in his wife’s political poster.

The picture, which has gone viral on the internet, shows Ravindra Jadeja in the Indian jersey, urging voters to join his political roadshow in Jamnagar North constituency in the Gujarat Assembly election.

While Jadeja was heavily trolled for using an Indian jersey for a political campaign, The Quotes spoke to a prolific Indian cricketer, who is part of the international set-up in the Indian cricket team, to understand if Ravindra Jadeja breached any BCCI guidelines for donning an Indian jersey.

“I cannot recall any such incident when any of the BCCI officials or senior players informed me about the guidelines for wearing an Indian jersey, but I don’t prefer to wear it apart from international matches,” said a 26-year-old allrounder.

“We have earned it after years of hard work, but it should not be misused. Using it for a political campaign is something I don’t feel is right, but still, I am not aware if there are any specific guidelines,” said a 26-year-old allrounder.

Many social media users questioned the Indian cricketer over his action and slammed him on social media.

The Quotes tried to reach out to BCCI for comment over the same, but so far, we have been able to receive any answer from any of the office bearers.
