Meet Pritesh Dave, Among Last Men to Become Single Dad via Surrogacy

Ahmedabad: 37-year-old Pritesh Dave of Surat is the one of the last few men who have become a single parents of twins – a boy and a girl – early last year through surrogacy.

As per the new law, surrogacy is not allowed for single men, women, live-in and same sex- couples.

I got Lucky: Dave

Speaking to Times of India, Dave revealed that he got lucky as single parents like him cannot qualify for surrogacy now. He said there are many men in his community who are not able to find brides as parents prefer to marry off their daughters to youths with government jobs.

“We have land and properties but that does not count. My parents were dejected when I could not win a girl’s hand in marriage. However, the arrival of twins has filled my house with joy,” he told TOI.

An expert in the business told TOI that since Bollywood biggie Karan Johar and Tushar Kapoor became single father via surrogacy, it has inspired many bachelors in the town to seek this option.
